Dear reader,

Well, technically, past avid reader of my blogs. Hi, how are you?

It’s been a while.

I’m sure you’re not wondering at all why I’m writing and doing so in a Bridgerton voice. A few years ago I left abruptly, leaving you in pain and disorientation. There’s no point denying this, I saw your DMs begging me to stay.

I don’t remember what I told you was my reason to halt my obviously funny rants about sex and relationships that made you love me to the point of taking the knee and swearing to always be there when I came back, but I do know that you’re still here, lurking for my return like I’m GTA 6.

But if I'm to put a brief answer to it, at the time, though I loved sharing glorified personal stories, I also felt a deep need to tell stories beyond mine. Stories that not only entertain but also teach something about life.

As we grow up, we face the culmination of loss, friendship, love, heartbreak, sex addiction, an annoying brother who steals your clothes and more. These moments make up our daily battles and joys. The feelings that come out of them spoke to me. They still do.

I kept thinking about younger kids than me who haven’t experienced grief or being friendzoned or what it feels like having a baby, and how terrifying it is. Not that I have a baby. Don’t go around thinking I’m a father now. But in this view, came the idea for a book. A set of stories meant to show us bits of life — to prepare us, or give us a clue on what in the fuck is happening to our minds, bodies, and world.

So yeah, I wrote a book.

A story collection.

Where Women Meet Boys

About 11 stories.

Here’s the synopsis: Where Women Meet Boys captures the bitter-sweetness of youth—when every experience feels like a revelation and every relationship brings with it the thrill of discovery. These short stories of friendship, love, heartbreak, and grief, explore the defining moments of life’s early lessons.

There’s a story of a man who tries to save his marriage by using Viagra; a young boy discovers porn with his cousin at his grandma’s house; broken by her father’s departure, a young girl frolics with men and seduces her sister’s boyfriend.

From shared laughter over mundane routines to life-changing events, each story reveals what it’s like to experience endings and beginnings in equal measure. Set in Kigali and beyond, this collection speaks to the rawness of growing up and the ache of a youth that fades too fast.

It took me two years to finish the book and to get it out for all of you to read. Because yes, the art of writing is second to my breath. And to give in, long and present, in solitude or in the disregard of what my life could be, is the dream. It took me time to really observe the world, the people, Rwandans, and our frivolous tropes when it comes to relationships and dating and the various emotions and situations we go through as we stage up life as youthful souls. The insecurities of self, the anxieties of new adventures, the pain or happiness of sharing a sunset together.

Dear reader, every story in this collection will speak to you. You might relate and emote; all the best things I deeply desire. What it won’t do is give you all the answers in the world, or your purpose in the grand scheme of things. I don’t have such power to tap in the cosmos. But with the luck of draw, you might learn something about yourself. Something about human relationships and how they affect us.

Isn’t that what makes us grow?

So what do you say? Are you down to share this experience together?

Where Women Meet Boys comes out on May 21st 2025. Get yourself a copy.
